While the two initially partnered together to manage Speaker Bureau programs for several pharmaceutical companies, The CM Group has now grown to a full service agency with a broad array of services and offerings for the biopharmaceutical industry including Strategic Meeting Services, Congress Management,  Patient Engagement Programs and HCP/Patient Speaker Bureau Management. Maggie Butler co-founded CM Group with Cherie Myatt in 2005. Before that time, she had worked for over a decade in medical event management for companies in Boston and New York City. Despite her quick rise to leadership positions, she always had the desire to start her own agency. A self-confessed “Type A” personality, Maggie’s detail-oriented nature has served CM Group well. She envisioned a group that would focus on flawless event execution and above-and-beyond customer service; today, her team of 50+ employees delivers just that.

Maggie possesses an intimate knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry’s strengths and challenges, of the life-cycle of a drug and of operational strategies that she’s seen fail and succeed. She views each pharmaceutical event as a puzzle, and she enjoys figuring out the best way to put the pieces together. Maggie’s goal is always to “get it right the first time.” She never runs away from a problem, but rather enjoys the adrenaline rush of an eleventh-hour request.

When not on the clock, Maggie is passionate in her support of organizations that focus on critical medical research and support, including Stand Up to Cancer. Maggie earned her bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University.

Cherie Myatt co-founded The CM Group with Maggie Butler in 2005. She had already proven herself a keen marketer and talented businesswoman for over a decade, working for a large Boston based agency overseeing marketing projects for pharmaceutical clients. A rising star, Cherie earned promotions quickly, thanks in large part to her natural ability to form positive and trusting relationships with both colleagues and clients. When the opportunity presented itself to start The CM Group, Cherie’s entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to take risks helped fuel its launch. Today, she stakes her professional reputation on doing the right thing for each client, every time.

Cherie also knows that the strategic growth of The CM Group depends on a positive and collaborative working culture; she is particularly passionate about mentoring women, who make up the majority of The CM Group’s employees. Cherie knows each of her team members personally and professionally, and believes in fostering a culture where hard work and dedication are acknowledged and rewarded. In developing a team of hard working and dedicated employees, The CM Group has established many long-standing and successful client relationships.

Having lost a grandparent to Alzheimer’s disease, Cherie is a strong supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association, and participates in many of their events throughout the year. Under her leadership, The CM Group is also a supporter of the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation, which honors the memory of a child lost in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, SNAP (Special Needs Athletic Partnership), Rosie’s Place, the Cotting School and the Hingham Food Pantry. Cherie graduated from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.

Bethany was recently promoted to Vice President of Speaker Bureau after five years of increasingly influential roles within the Speaker Bureau team at CM Group. A natural people-person with a business background, she knows how to prioritize each client’s individual needs in a fast-paced field where competitors often value profit over personal service. She is always ready to devise and implement creative cost-saving measures. Bethany is also well-versed in the legal and compliance issues facing the biotech and pharmaceutical industries--an invaluable asset in speaker bureau management.

Before joining CM Group, Bethany worked for many years as an account executive for a financial services company. Bethany earned two bachelor’s degrees magna cum laude from Suffolk University, one in finance and the other in business management.

An animal lover, Bethany has rescued two pets of her own, and also gives generously to protect animals by donating to national organizations including ASPCA, as well as local rescue shelters.

As Vice President of Marketing and Patient Engagement, Alex is a savvy innovator and a strong client ally. Together with her team, she tackles the complexities of marketing and communications programs for The CM Group’s clients. Alex is an expert at distilling complex ideas into elegant solutions, ones that help pharmaceutical companies connect on an authentic level with physicians and patients, in a way that generates measurable results.

Before joining The CM Group, Alex worked for more than two decades in marketing and advertising. In New York, she worked on national business-to-consumer accounts including Procter & Gamble and Burger King; in Boston, she led a multimedia campaign for Fidelity Investments and then gained client-side experience as director of communications for a marketing software company. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated cum laude.

In every position Alex has held, clients and colleagues have commended her attention to detail and exceptional client service. Her dedication naturally carries over into her personal life; Alex currently sits on the board of trustees for the CARES Foundation, a national organization dedicated to Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), a rare, genetic disorder that affects her youngest son.

Maureen combines her health care background with her gift for maximizing operational effectiveness in her role as Vice President of Human Resource Operations. She is involved with all aspects of personnel management, training, and the development of relevant policies and procedures. Maureen has a knack for understanding how people interact, and how to handle conversations and conflicts with grace--ultimately, she’s responsible for sustaining a supportive, encouraging, and collaborative workplace culture. The fruits of her efforts affect every aspect of client account management and business development.

Before joining The CM Group, Maureen worked for over a decade in operations for several hospitals and medical centers. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Curry College, and her master’s of management from Cambridge College. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Society for Human Resource Management and the American Society for Training and Development.

Maureen is also a strong believer in giving back to her community. She is a board member at South Shore SNAP (Special Needs Athletic Partnership). Together with her family, she’s also regularly involved with local service organizations, including My Brother’s Keeper and Cradles to Crayons.

As Vice President of Business Development, Allison is a bold and determined saleswoman, and an ideal representative for The CM Group’s range of offerings. Allison has the ability to quickly and keenly understand what a client needs. She is always ready to work across departments to brainstorm solutions -- even if it means creating a business product not currently offered.

Before joining The CM Group, Allison worked in a variety of sales and marketing positions for PlatformQ, GE, NBC Universal, and Sapient. She earned her bachelor’s in business from Boston College, and her MBA from Babson College.

Allison currently sits on the board of her children’s preschool, is active in coaching her children’s various sports and she regularly supports her alma mater.

Paul Connolly is The CM Group’s Corporate Controller with over 25 years experience. He is a hands-on financial management professional with strong technical knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Paul started his career in Boston with a large regional CPA firm where he consulted on business practices, finance and taxation solutions across an assorted range of industries. After leaving public accounting, Paul held financial positions of increasing responsibilities in public and privately held businesses. Prior to joining The CM Group Paul had provided services to over fifty companies in multiple industries as interim executive management and financial advisor over the past 10 years. His engagements have resulted in over $600 million in capital transactions and his clients have ranged from pre-revenue to over $800 million in revenue.

Paul has addressed the needs of his clients in the areas of financial management including debt and equity financing and restructuring, accounting and financial reporting, public company readiness, SEC reporting, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning and cash flow management. As a result of his leadership ability, acumen and devotion to securing the optimum solution, Paul quickly gains his clients’ trust and confidence resulting in rapid improvement and lasting change.

Paul earned his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Suffolk University in Boston and is a Certified Public Accountant.

As Vice President of Event Services, Julie is an industry-recognized hospitality expert with over 15 years of experience in event and meeting management. Julie’s relationship management expertise has enabled her to successfully lead large teams of highly successful event planners while simultaneously exceeding client expectations. With more than 1,000 events facilitated, she has developed a professional mission: to host world-class customer experiences while streamlining operating procedures that increase bottom line results. She is similarly committed to customizing existing event technology to achieve time and cost savings.

Prior to joining CM Group, Julie worked in the hospitality, pharmaceutical and technology industries with organizations including Biogen IDEC, CVent and Vail Resorts. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Roanoke College.

Julie has a passion for the field of pediatric oncology. She visits local hospitals to read to and play with children diagnosed with cancer and financially supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Stefanie Solomon

Stefanie is a business-minded attorney with a solutions-oriented approach to counseling and supporting clients. Stefanie brings to The CM Group more than a decade of legal and healthcare compliance experience within the life sciences industry.

Prior to joining The CM Group, Stefanie was Assistant General Counsel at Merrimack Pharmaceuticals where she established the company’s healthcare compliance program and guided the commercial team in the launch its first pharmaceutical product. Stefanie has also served as legal and compliance counsel at Biogen and Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Prior to working in-house, Stefanie was a member of the FDA Regulatory practice at Hogan Lovells.

Stefanie received her Bachelor of Arts from Duke University and earned her JD from Harvard Law School.

As Vice President of Congress Management, Jessica is a strategic thinker and experienced networker who can make any congress a success. Her clients praise her responsiveness and reliability, as well as her willingness to speak up when she senses a new opportunity to maximize meeting or budget goals. Her approach facilitates extraordinary volume; last year, her Congress team managed close to 75 national and 600 regional congresses.

Before joining CM Group, Jessica worked in events and meetings for several hotels before switching gears to a series of event management positions in the biotech, medical device, and pharmaceutical industries. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Boston University School of Hospitality Administration.
